Hooked Wireless and Broadcom Corporation Sign Software Development Agreement
Hooked to Assist in Implementing OpenGL-ES 1.1 for the BCM-2702
Los Altos Hills, CA – June 6, 2005, For immediate release:
Hooked Wireless, Inc. announced today that it has entered into an agreement with Broadcom, Inc.,
of Irvine, CA (Nasdaq: BRCM) to assist in the development and testing of OpenGL-ES 1.1 for the
BCM-2702, one of Broadcom's high-performance mobile multimedia processor chips. The BCM-2702,
also known as the VCO2, is a state-of-the-art low-power co-processor chip targeted at mobile devices
such as cell phones and digital cameras. It combines video and audio processing, polyphonic sound
synthesis, an LCD controller, and SRAM on a single chip.
"The opportunity to work on OpenGL-ES for the VCO2 is quite strategic for us", says Mike Bruno, CEO of Hooked.
The VCO2 has had design wins on some of the highest-volume devices
in mobile electorincs, so our work will soon be in the hands of tens of millions of consumers all over
the world. Also, this chip does an amazing amount of computing with very little power consumption.
We're big fans of what Broadcom's engineering group in Cambridge has accomplished, and we're
going to enjoy working with the device."
Hooked Wireless is dedicated to the production of carrier-grade technology for the software stack
of cell phones, mp3-players and other handheld devices. It was formed by industry veterans John Airey and
Mike Bruno in September of 2004
