OpenVG is an emerging standard for 2D vector
graphic, bitmap and font rendering on mobile devices. It is
essentially a companion API for OpenGL® ES, the mobile industry standard
for 3D graphics. Both standards are managed by the Khronos Group.
Standards are good, of course, but a graphics standard is only valuable
if it's fast enough to be useful. In practice, that often
requires hardware acceleration.
Hooked Wireless offers a way to accelerate vector graphics without the need for
special OpenVG hardware. We have layered vector graphics on top of OpenGL
ES, enabling accelerated vector graphics on standard 3D hardware.
Now, you can have the best of both worlds - high-speed vector and
bitmap manipulation, without the cost of
OpenVG silicon.
Hooked VG-on-ES is one of the very few drivers that can approach
vector graphics standards without sacrificing speed, and is based on both
the 1.01 and 1.1 feature sets.
